The Middletown Home uses the CMS site to download HIPAA specific training for
our staff.
CMS is a particularly good site to research HIPAA information. HIPAA
stands for the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act. It
is a more recent act and has been interpreted very differently from healthcare
provider to provider. As new technology and increasing sensitivity to
confidentiality in the health settings increase, CMS will continue to be
utilized for their guidance as it relates to HIPAA. Besides guidelines
such as HIPAA files on CMS, CMS also oversees state agencies such as Department
of Health. |
