Department of Aging

The Pennsylvania Department of Aging helps to ensure that our residents at The Middletown Home are provided with supportive services to help ensure senior living that is rewarding. They help provide services such as the Ombudspersons program. At The Middletown Home we may call upon the services of an ombudsperson if there is a concern expressed that needs additional supportive services. The Pennsylvania Department of Aging is also the source of information on the "Older Adults Protective Services Act". This is the act that we follow for all potential hires to The Middletown Home so that we minimize the risk of potential abuse in our elderly environment.

Department of Aging site is particularly useful to locate the Area Agencies on Aging. The local Area Agencies on Aging help coordinate services for elderly who are transitioning after short-term rehabilitation services at a skilled nursing facility to their home environments. They also provide for such services such as Senior Centers and Meals on Wheels to name a few. Department of Aging funding has been a source of controversary due to it's considerable funding through the Pennsylvania Lottery Fund. Information regarding this funding and the controversary can be found on this site.
