I am a person who has always loved food, especially baking, since I was a little girl. I love everything about food, from gardening and growing it through the entire process of how it gets to my plate. I grew up in Middletown, New Jersey, the garden state, where my Dad was a big influence on me. He took me to the Butcher, the Baker, the farms, and of course, showed me how to cook. I graduated from Drexel University and took the path of experience to become a Registered Dietitian. I have been a Dietitian for over 25 years and have worked throughout the lifecycle in hospitals, Head Start, Family Day Care, Senior centers, and teaching before coming here to The Middletown Home in 1991. I now live in Derry Township with my husband, Don. My two children attend college, Brian in Las Vegas and Julie in New York City. My approach to Nutrition is very liberal when dealing with Residents in later years. I want them to receive the foods they enjoy for a pleasant Dining Experience. I want to provide a wide variety of food they are familiar with, cooked to retain nutrients and observe Government recommendations to decrease fat, sugar and salt. I meet with each Resident to review meal patterns, likes and dislikes. Residents are encouraged to select menus daily with the help of Nursing Assistants or Family. Special diets are customized to assure good intakes. Every day is a special occasion. I will try to anticipate your Nutritional needs and can be reached in person, by phone or email. I am happy to have your suggestions of recipes, menu ideas and Dining Experiences. I look forward to creating pleasant food memories while you are a guest at the Middletown Home. |
